Dear Friends,
My BDC is not working in Linux operating system , It's not picking the file by F4 ,
I am calling a function that is -
DATA: file_name TYPE string.
file_name = p_file.
CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
EXPORTING
filename = file_name
filetype = 'ASC'
* filetype = 'WXI'
has_field_separator = 'X'
TABLES
data_tab = P_itab
I have taken the file format of 'ASC' for notepad , which format I have to use for linux.
This is call transaction BDC , Please give me suggestion I don't want to use Batch input secession BDC

Dear Friend Madhu,
As per your suggestion I have given then file name in Caps lock , for example I have given my
file name DATA_FILE , still its not picked by BDC on F4 , and there is no .txt format available
in linux , when I open this file then it's open in open office writer , As per my inderstanding
CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
EXPORTING
filename = file_name
filetype = 'ASC'
here I am giving file type ASC , then for linux I have to give another file type.
Hope you have got the problem.

Rihan

You lost me!? What does GUI_UPLOAD have to do with a BDC/call transaction? Answer? nothing? Do you have a program where the GUI_UPLOAD works for Linux? Is so, look at how the code was constructed there (and you can find this with where used on the GUI_UPLOAD FM), and construct your filename accordingly. If Linux is case sensitive, consider that when constructing your file_name value, which would then contain something like: c:\myfolder\myfile.ext. After the upload FM call, what is the return code (sy-subrc)? You did check that, right, before you watched this fail in debug? What is in the p_itab internal table? And, how is p_itab described? You've really not provided enough detail to get help for this. Are you sure you're getting this from a PC (GUI_UPLOAD) in a foreground session? I thought Linux would be the operating system for the SAP servers?
If the file is, as it probably should be, stored on the Apps server, you need Open dataset...read into...close dataset, etc., the details of which have been posted many, many times.

Hope you have got the problem.
