Call Transaction - use BDCMSGCOLL Structure to handle logs

Session method - sm35p transaction

synchronous : it updates the data into database and will go next record.

slow processing

asynchronous processing: it updates the data in transaction wise not in database wise and will go further record.

Reward points if it is helpful

Thanks

Hi Archana,

How can we handle Errors in BDC with Call Transaction & Call Session method?

A: In call transaction methodwe can take one internal table which refer to bdcmsgcoll and explicitly we can move the errors OR use FORMAT_MESSAGE fm.

In session method all errors automatically populated into session error log.

What is synchronous & asynchronous processing?

synchronous : It means controller can be wait until and unless the before record will be updated.

Asynchronous : It means controller can't be wait until and unless the before record will be updated.

Hope this helps you. Reply for queries, shall post the updates.

Regards.

if you want to handle errors in the call transaction you have one internal table BDCMSGCOLL you can Rise the error message or you can make use of the function module FORMAT_MESSAGE FOR THE CALL TRANSACTION .

If it Session Method it will generate the errors you can see these message in the transaction SM35 .

hi,

Handlling errors in Session method:

error log is provided by default.so we can check errors at SM35.

Handlling errors in CAll transction:

we have to handle errors using BDCMSGCOLL structure and using FM FORMAT_MESSAGES and even we can download error records into file aslo.

check the sample code:

S Synchronous update in which if you change data of one table then all the related Tables gets updated. And sy-subrc is returned i.e., sy-subrc is returned for once and all.

Asynchronous update. When you change data of one table, the sy-subrc is returned. And then updating of other affected tables takes place. So if system fails to update other tables, still sy-subrc returned is 0 (i.e., when first table gets updated).

hi archana,

session method - synchronous method when updating data through a transaction.

transaction code is sm35

call transaction - asynchronous method.it can be called from a report prgm itself.

messages can be used by using BDCMSGCOLL. it is a structure which is used for handling and dealing with messages.

if helpful reward some points.

with regards,

suresh babu aluri.
