I had executed a report in the background which had got cancelled stating that "stands cancelled with lock on BISIS table".Can anyone here please let me know what does it mean.Does this mean Runtime Exectuion Exceeded?

If your program is updating BSIS table, then please add following lines after the BAPI call to update BSIS table.
" To update BSIS Table for all entries in ITAB
Loop at itab.
CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI....'.
COMMIT WORK AND WAIT.
WAIT UPTO 2 SECONDS.
endloop.
Else please check whether there is any other job which is simultaneously updating BSIS & hence the lock. You can check transaction SM12 to check locks.
The program which I had executed is not using BSIS table at all.
The message that I had put in my Question is the message I had received from the Basis guys ie "Stands Cancelled with lock on BISIS table" and not BSIS.
Neither there is a table called BISIS nor I am using BSIS table in the report.
Go to the background job log. Here you will know the message numbe by which your job was get failed. Search for that message in your program. You should fast at least one instance of that message in your program. That message must be ERROR message which caused your job failure.
