Back and Exit button not enabling in screen program

I am trying to enable back and exit buttons on application tool bar. I created pf-status choosing dialog box. But not able to figure out which function codes should be assigned to back and exit buttons. I need to have option where the output can be displayed in either popup dialog box or normal screen. Can anyone please explain how to achieve this?

Explain what ? you have created the menu painter - SE41 ? you have called the pf-status. You have managed the button in the pop-up dialog box ? so ... it should works. What is your issu ?
