Application document is like when you post any type of idoc

Lets say in case of ORDERS idoc its will be PO , SO

in case of MATMAS

it will be material master record

Application Document could be:

Master Data is the data that exists in the organization like employee details, material master, customer master, vendor master etc. These are generally created once.

Transaction Data - These are the business documents that you create using the master data - Purchase orders, sales orders etc.

Application Document is communicated via message type.
