ALV Grid Question

hi

can any one tell me what is the meaning of below navigation from alv grid

i displayed a report in ALV grid

now i selected View(From Menu) -> and select Microsoft Excel

i got a screen with blank XL Sheet, what is the use of this option.

please do not give generic answers.

If you are using the latest version of SAPGUI (7.0 or 7.1) with M$ Excel 2003 or 2007 you need to apply the latest patch --then it works fine otherwise you will either see a blank screen or be prompted to store a file somewhere in some weird type of format.
