ALE IDOC inbound processing

Hey guys, I'm new to the ALE function, and I have done a bit of searching. I am trying to move a couple master data characteristics over to a different system. After I have done the outbound processing from one system, I can see that the message says "IDoc sent to R/3 System or external program" but where do I go to process the idoc into the system or should it allready be there? I'm not familier with the process. Thanks for any help guys!

- Duncan.

Hi,

If u want to see the actual status of IDOC, just enter the IDOC no: in WE02/WE05. It could be in send/recieving system.

If u are doing with standard functionality, if the IDOC will return the status 03 means, its success.

u can test the IDOC by using WE19. for reprocessing use BD87.

Thanks

Hi Duncan,

Your job end when you do the outbound processing in your system. YOu do not need to do anything on the other system for further processing.

For eg, if you have sent a orders idoc, then it will create a Order in the other system automatically.

Ravi

Hey Eswar,

I did look at the status from the source system, and the status is 03 and green lights all around. In the Target system I tried to find the Idoc, but it didn't seem to make it there.

This is what I did:

1. Transaction BD91 - Send from the Source system.

2. Enter the Characteristic that I want to send.

3. Enter the Target System where I want to send it to.

4. Transaction WE02 - Idoc has a status of 03.

Thanks guys,

Duncan.

Hi Duncan,

Dont give the same IDOC no in target system while checking through WE02.

U just mention the Logical System name(Sender)/Message type/date(if possible).

Then it will show the IDOCs. There u can easily findout the IDOC & status.

Thanks

Hey Eswar,

I have looked at all of them in the system, there's not even one with todays date so I'm sure it did not make it over there. Would it be somewhere in the partner profiles or rfc destination settings?

Do the ports need the same number in both systems?

Thanks Ravi, but I still don't understand. The Characteristic that I want to ALE, seemed to have gone smooth. I did not receive any errors but yet when I go to the target system, and go to the transaction ct04 to check if the characteristic is there, then it can not be found?

Hi In we19 enter the idoc number and run

then specify the Inbound Function module and process it.
