Hi Guru's

i ahve few ques regarding ale / edi

1 can we use edi to pass idoc from r3 to r3?

2 if yes then what port is used for that?

3 concept of flat file in ale edi?

4 diff b/w ale edi, plzz dont copy paste or provide links

5 when logical sys comes into picture

6 in trfc port definition, we use rfc dest, but in file port

we use some dir, plzz explain

7 in partner profile , we give LS(trans SALE) name for partner type LS but for other for eg vendor, we give some other name

what is that and how's that name created?

Regards

1. yes we can use edi too to transfer r3 to r3.

2. edi generally use file port. here port specifies, in what way the data is transferrred. ( here one thing we have to remember is that ale and edi are different technologies, by which we are transferring data through idocs)

4. i have said in 2. that these are two different technologies (framework)that are used to transfer data.Coming to diffrences there are a lot in which they use, their own way to transfer data. Coming to preferences , ale is used to transfer from r3 to r3. and edi from r3 to non r3.

5. logical systems are nothing but the systems between which data is transfered. we use this concept in sap because of unique identification required.

6. in trfc which is generally used in ale, needs unique address to transfer data but when coming to file ports in edi ,it can transfer to a common id aand from which it can be distributed if requred.

7. as i told above the need of LS , from it only u can derive the clarification u require.
