Hi,
I want to add a field ZZFIELD to a structure but I get error message '
Field name & lies in external or unknown namespace but is valid'.
It seems it is not possible to do this, yet I have a table with this field in it!
Is it possible to add a ZZ* field to a structure?
All help greatly appreciated!

Are you using "Append structure" option to add the field?

Hi S.Nalluri,
Thank you for your answer.
No, I am just creating a structure with 4 fields of which one starts with ZZ*

You should reply to a comment with another comment, not an answer.

Explain more clearly what is it you're doing exactly and post the screenshots. And yes, please use comment instead of answer. Now, due to the "fantastic" new SCN rules, this question is no longer considered unanswered, so you might not get many replies, unfortunately.

Hi Glen,
Can you provide more details, exactly what are you trying to do. Custom/standard structure or adding fields in custom structure or adding fields in standard structure, if possible with screen shots.
Regards
Guru Prasad.

Please use the COMMENT button if you ask for more details. ANSWER is only to propose a solution. You also have an option to convert your answer into a comment.

To add to Sandra's comment, this is not just a question of "SCN etiquette". After at least one answer (not comment!) has been posted, the question no longer appears in the unanswered question list. I.e. posting something other than a solution further hurts OP's chances of getting any other replies and possibly actual solution.
Thanks.

Hi Guru
thank you for your reply. I am trying to create a custom structure, please see my screenshot attached. I can create a ZGID field but not ZZGID!

ZZ/YY fields are required in append structure to SAP standard structures or tables (ref: 16466 - Customer name range for SAP objects, look for 'Table field SAP table')
So in which kind of structure, in customer or SAP namespace, are you trying to add the field?

I must apologise that i clicked on 'answer' and not 'comment' I hadn't realised this at all so once again thank you to everyone that pointed this out, I shall endeavour in future to remember and adhere to this!
Wish you all a nice day further.

Hi Raymond,
thank you kindly for your reply. I am trying to create a custom structure, please see attached. I can create a field with ZGID but not ZZGID which is strange because in other customer tables/structures I can!
Kind regards
Glen

The screenshot shows that it's a "Generated Table for View ???", how do you generate it? Maybe it's not a good idea to change its components or add new ones directly via the ABAP workbench because the application which generates the structure could overwrite your changes. (anyway, it looks like more like a standard generated structure than a custom structure)

In screenshot you are not adding ZZ* filed but Z* field. That is a difference when adding custom field to standard structures.

Hi Tomas,
Yes, exactly. I have in the end had to make the field ZGID and not ZZGID because ZZGID was not accepted.
