About variants

Can anyone help me out by briefing about the variants and its usage.

Hi

Variants are useful during the execution of programs when they have number of fields on the selection screen.different users will enter different values on the selection screen and save those values as Variants.So next time when they wants to execute the same result, they will just pass the saved variant and execute and will see the output.so when different users are handling the same program in different ways with different data it will be very useful to save these variants and to use

HOW TO CREATE VARIANTS

in report execution -> after giving input values first time click on save buttonn -> it will ask for a name and desc , give it and save -> then u can get a variant icon in application tool bar -> from next time onwards no need to give values but u can directly click on variant icon n it will automatically fill up all the valuse for required fields.

variants are user-specific. i.e. variants created by one user can't be used by another user.

Hi,

Variants are nothing but pre-defined values given to the selection screen options.

If u have more number of select-options or parameters in your selection screen, u can give the values to that and click the save icon. Variant screen will be displayed. There give the name of the variant and save it. Whenever u run execute the program, u can use the variant.
