Hi Lakshmi,
TR can be without Task. Task are created so that one TR can be used by more than one people. Each person can be assigned a separate Task. This arrangement is more useful during a big project, upgrade, support pack etc.

Hi,
Yes you can create a transport request without a task.
Goto SE01 & click DISPLAY.
Click on NEw. Enter the details.
Thats it.
Task has all the objects which you have modified.
There could be multiple tasks against a transport.
If multiple users are working on a single object, then under the same transport request, you can create task for each TR & hence you would be able to track changes done by each user for that TR.
The TR along with tasks is released to subsequent systems.

Hi,
You can create a transport request wth out a Task request. Task Request will give you user wise mdoification details. Under a trasnport request, you can have multiple task reqeusts in turn each task request corresponding to a single user.
If you release the task request, then one more task request will be creqted for that user under teh same transport request.
The hierarchy of releasing the reqeusts is:
You have to release all the task reqeusts under transport reqeust , and then release the trasnport request.
Reward if helpful.
Thnx,
