Could you tell me when we use idoc and when we use RFC. And How to use these.

To transfer idocs you can use:

- file

- rfc

it depends which port you choose (transaction we21)

Hi ravi,

IDOC is not a process, it is a container.it just carries the information from one party to another.for idoc processing we r using ALE or EDI.

in ALE ,first we need to set up the Logical system,then RFC destination.This is done at <b>SM59</b> Transaction.

logical system name and RFC name must be same.

idoc means intermediate document which acts as an input container when creating application document in inbound side

RFC means remote function destination we can logon to rmote system by using tcode SM59.

both are different
