Hi Please read my below brief document..
Some hints regarding how to run an ecatt script. This to know how to run a script but how to develop an ecatt script is a separate chapter.
We can execute a script both in R/3 as well as in ECA system by the tranx SECATT. But if u want to execute a script in R/3 which was written in some other system, say ECA or any other system other than the R/3 System, it will throw error saying that the test script does not exist . For that, you will have to transport the script from that system to the R/3 system.
Anyway here is the procedure how to run an ecatt in the ECA system(same is the case with other systems) :-
1- you need to have an userid/pwd in the ECA System(Central eCATT Respository System).
2- then goto tranx SECATT(SECATT - Extended Computer Aided Test Tool ) from the ECA system.
3-this will take u to a screen with four option as given below.
4- then select the test script option(if ur script contains only some transactions) else select the test configuration option(if the main script contains many sub-scripts, and takes data from different test data container and then type in your test script name or the name of the Test Configuration accordingly.
5- then press the execute button(F8).
6- That will take you to a screen where in you will find four TABS viz Shared,Parameter,UI control,Breakpoints. You need to make entries in all the TABS.
7- in the shared tab , u need to fill the System Data Container name and the target system(where you want to work on), check the log display and the application log enter message.
8-on the parameter tab select the correct variant for ur script.
9- on the UI control tab, go with the default settings.
10- no need to set anything on the Breakpoints tab.
Now press execute.
This will return you either a green(successful)log or a red(failed)log.

Hello Fei Lu
To answer your question, ECATT can be used to test different tansactions like creating pruchase orders/change purchase orders etc
The actual use lies in the concept of reusing these ECATT Scripts. For example if you have created 1 script to create doc number of a PO (transaction MIRO), you can reuse this script as and when required. Hope this answers your question.
Thanks
