HI ALL,

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCIATE BETWEEN MATCHCODES &LOCKOBJECTS.

FROM,

PHANI.

Hai,

With help of match code we will provide f4 help for field.

with help of lock objects we will provide security(acces properties ) to fields.

Hi,

A Matchcode is nothing but just like a search help.

This concept has now been obsolete and not used. Otherwise, Mathcode Objects can be used in the ABAP Programs to explicitly specify a Search help for a field.

A Lock Object is used for the Locking Concept.

If u are updating an entry in a table, then u will place a lock on the table so that nobody else can change the entry.

Functions used for Lock Objects start with ENQUEUE and DEQUEUE.

ENQUEUE means that u have enabled the lock and DEQUEUE means the lock has been disabled.

Himanshu

HI,

match codes are the earlier version of search helps.it is for giving the F4 help to a field.

lock objects is for locking the data base tables,etc...

Hi,

Match Code Object is nothing but F4 Help.

F4 Help is used to give the Possible values for the Particular Field.

To create a F4 help,

Step1 : Go to Se11 and Select Search Help and Enter One Name and Click Create.

Step2 : Enter your Table name in 'Selection Method' Field.

Step3 : Enter the field Name and tick the Flags Imp and Exp and Type 1 and 2 in Lpos,

Spos fields.

Step4 : Save it and In se38 Write the Code Like This,

data Empname like Zemp-empname matchcode object [enter name that u Created].

Search help is a ABAP Dictionary object used to define possible values (F4) help. You can link a search help to a parameter as follows:

PARAMETERS .. MATCHCODE OBJECT <SEARCH_HELP>.

The search help <search_help> must be defined in the ABAP Dictionary. The system now automatically displays the input help button for the field on the screen and activates the F4 key for it. When the user requests input help, the hit list of the search help appears, and when he or she selects an entry, the corresponding export parameter is placed in the input field. The predecessors of search helps in the ABAP Dictionary were called matchcode objects, hence the name of the addition in the PARAMETERS statement. Existing matchcode objects are still supported.

<b>Previously in older versions there were no search help and we use matchcodes.

But in newer releases we are aquainted with search help and matchcodes have become obsolete..</b>

see the doc on lock objects

Lock objects are use in SAP to avoid the inconsistancy at the time of data is being insert/change into database.

SAP Provide three type of Lock objects.

- Read Lock(Shared Locked)

protects read access to an object. The read lock allows other transactions read access but not write access to

the locked area of the table

- Write Lock(exclusive lock)

protects write access to an object. The write lock allows other transactions neither read nor write access to

the locked area of the table.

- Enhanced write lock (exclusive lock without cumulating)

works like a write lock except that the enhanced write lock also protects from further accesses from the

same transaction.

You can create a lock on a object of SAP thorugh transaction SE11 and enter any meaningful name start with EZ Example EZTEST_LOCK.

Use: you can see in almost all transaction when you are open an object in Change mode SAP could not allow to any other user to open the same object in change mode.

Example: in HR when we are enter a personal number in master data maintainance screen SAP can't allow to any other user to use same personal number for changes.

Technicaly:

When you create a lock object System automatically creat two function module.

1. ENQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. to insert the object in a queue.

2. DEQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. To remove the object is being queued through above FM.

You have to use these function module in your program.

check this link for example.

Hi,

Matchcode objects are being replaced by search helps. This is good as search helps are easy to create. However, it has caused some confusion on how best to add search helps to a selection field. The trick that I found is to keep your newly created search helps to a 4-character name. The Matchcode object name has this old 4-character limit. This trick is not documented anywhere in the system but it has been a great time saver for me. You can expand this concept by finding existing SAP ...

HI

MATCHCODE OBJECT search_help

This addition links the input field of the parameter with a search help search_help from the ABAP Dictionary. The name of the search help must be entered directly. For the input field of the parameter on the selection screen , the input help key is displayed. When the input help (F4) is requested, the user is displayed the hit list from the search help. When an entry is selected, the respective value is placed into the input field. If no search help for the specified name exists in the ABAP Dictionary, a message is displayed in the status line when the input help is requested.

The addition MATCHCODE OBJECT cannot be used together with the additions AS CHECKBOX or RADIOBUTTON.

The predecessors of search helps in the ABAP Dictionary were socalled matchcode objects. This is why you have the name MATCHCODE OBJECT for this addition. Matchcode objects that have not yet been replaced by search helps continue to be supported by this addition.

MATCH CODE OBJECTS IS TOOL FOR SEARCHING A RECORD FROM THE DATA DASE

YOU CAN CREATE MATHCODE OBJECTS LIKE BELOW

PARAMETER : ABC(10) LIKE KNA1-NUNNR MATHCODE OBJECT 'MCODE OBJNAME'.

THEN DOUBLE CLICK ON MATHCODE OBJECT YOU WILL GO TO A SCREEN WHERE YOU CAN CREATE MATHCODE OBJ.

THERE R 2 STEPS

1. CREATE MATHCODE ID.

2. CREATE MATH CODE OBJ

TRY THIS HOPE U WILL GET .

Check this link....

<b>Lock object name</b>

A lock object is a virtual link of several SAP tables which is used to synchronize simultaneous access by two users to the same set of data ( SAP lock concept).

Locks are requested and released in the programming of online transactions by calling certain function modules which are automatically generated from the definition of the lock objects. These lock objects must be explicitly created in the ABAP Dictionary.

To set locks, you must perform the following steps:

1. You must define a lock object in the ABAP Dictionary. The name of the lock object should begin with E.

2. The function modules for requesting and releasing locks which are created automatically when the lock object is activated must be linked to the programming of the relevant online transactions

Hi..

Matchcodes are the earlier versions of Search helps. They are used to provide F4 help in a user freindly manner.

Lock objects are used to lock the entries of Database tables from programs.

So there is no link between them.

hi

phani

<b>match code</b> is nothing but search help

now it is obsolete u can provide search help to a parameters like this

parameters: empname like zemp-empname match code object zobj.

just double click on zobj u will find a search help window u can proceed further.

<b>lock object</b>

The lock condition is a logical condition for the lines of the table to be locked. It describes the area of the table which the lock is to protect from competitive access. To avoid the administration of the lock becoming complicated, the lock condition can not be formulated as freely as the WHERE clauses: only fully qualified key fields related by AND may appear in the condition.

Via the lock mode you define which operations on the table are to be protected by the lock. The lock modes available are:

Read lock (shared lock)

protects read access to an object. The read lock allows other transactions read access but not write access to the locked area of the table.

Write lock (exclusive lock)

protects write access to an object. The write lock allows other transactions neither read nor write access to the locked area of the table.

Enhanced write lock (exclusive lock without cumulation)

works like a write lock except that the enhanced write lock also protects from further accesses from the same transaction.

In order to be able to define SAP locks for a table, you must first create a lock object for the table via Development->Dictionary.

If the data for an application object is distributed among several database tables, it is often necessary to be able to lock these tables simultaneously. It is therefore possible to include several tables in a lock object, althought they must be related via appropriate foreign key relationships. The tables involved in a lock object are also known as its base tables.

reward if u find useful
