HI

<u><b>Create SAP enhancements for the time sheet</b></u>

There are several SAP enhancements that you can use to extend the functionality of the time sheet. The following step provides an overview of the enhancements.

Detailed documentation is available online when you maintain the relevant SAP enhancements.

1. Set up work list (CATS0001)

You can use the SAP enhancement CATS0001 to fill the fields in the work list with values related to the profile and personnel number. You can fill all fields contained in the structure Cats: Work list (CATSW).

You are not limited to values from the standard SAP R/3 System. You can also fill the work list from individually defined SAP tables or external files (for example, Excel).

<u><b>Note:</b></u> In order that the data can be displayed in the work list, the Customer enhancement field must be activated in the relevant data entry profiles under Work list.

2. Deactivate functions on the interface (CATS0004)

The time sheet provides a number of functions to assist the user in data entry.

You can use the SAP enhancement CATS0004 to deactivate functions that are not required on the interface. They can be deactivated for specific profiles or personnel numbers.

3. Supplement recorded data (CATS0002)

You can use the SAP enhancement CATS0002 to enter additional items of information for a data record that are integrated into the time sheet as default values. You can supplement or change the information in each cell for an individual person, date or situation.

The fact that you can supplement the recorded data allows you to keep the number of working time attributes in the data entry section to a minimum. This assists the user in data entry. You can hide fields that are filled automatically.

This enhancement also allows you to change data that has been entered manually.

4. Customer field enhancements (CATS0005)

You can add to the fields in the database table for the time sheet (CATSDB) by defining your own fields. You store these fields in the structure CI_CATSDB.

Values can be displayed or entered in five of these fields in the data entry section of the time sheet. You maintain all attributes of the field (display field, input field, and so on) using the field selection function. You can provide additional fields in a dialog box.

Customer field enhancements can also be filled, displayed, or made ready for input automatically using the SAO enhancement Supplement recorded data (CATS0002).

<u><b>Notes:</b></u>

You determine which fields appear in the data entry section in the step Create customer fields.

Values from customer fields cannot be transferred.

5. Subscreen on initial screen (CATS0007)

You can use the SAP enhancement CATS0007 to allow users to enter data that applies to all time sheet records on the initial screen.

<b>Example:</b> All data records must be entered with a document number. So that the user does not have to write the document number in every line, he or she can enter it on the initial screen.

This particular SAP enhancement complements the enhancements Supplement recorded data (CATS0002) and Customer field enhancements (CATS0005). It allows the recorded data to be displayed and saved in the data entry section.

6. Validate recorded data (CATS0003)

In the standard SAP R/3 System, you have the standard validations at your disposal plus the checks activated in the data entry profile. You can use the SAP enhancement CATS0003 to extend the validation of entries in individual fields.

Example: You can extend the validation of a personnel number with additional checks using data from the mini-master.

The validations you define are carried out for each action that merits a system check.

7. Validate entire time sheet (CATS0006)

You can use the SAP enhancement CATS0006 to extend the standard validations for time sheet data.

<b>Example:</b> If you do not use HR, this enhancement allows you to check whether the hours recorded for each day or for the entire data entry period observe a certain value limit. If the value limit is not observed, you can issue information or error messages.

The validations are carried out when you save or check data, and also when you switch between views or change the data entry period.

8. Determine workflow recipients for the approval (CATS0008)

In the standard SAP R/3 System, the approver is determined using a dialog box in which the user enters the name of the approver manually.

The SAP enhancement CATS0008 allows the approver to be determined automatically. You can also refer back to data recorded in the time sheet. Only one approver can be determined for each work item.

There is an additional indicator that allows you to hide the dialog box so that the user cannot change the name of the approver.

<u><b>Activities</b></u>

Maintain the SAP enhancements if required.

For information on maintaining enhancements, please see the Extended help or the online documentation under Basis Components -> ABAP Development Workbench -> Enhancements to the SAP Standard -> The R/3 Enhancement Concept.
