Does anybody know a good place to learn about ABAP's OO functionality?

Others SDN members will point you to the help.sap.com section for ABAP Objects and other great resources to ABAP OO.

In general you may want to check the ABAP Topic within the SDN Weblogs: https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/weblogs.sdn?blog=/weblogs/topic/29

There have been many created in that area. I especially recommend the one from Horst Keller: /people/horst.keller/blog/2004/07/16/did-abap-objects-fail-as-a-whole

Who by the way wrote an excellent ABAP book that you can buy.

There are two major ways to learn ABAP OO.

1. The book that Mark mentioned about:

"ABAP Objects — The Official Reference"

A comprehensive guide to all ABAP language elements

by Horst Keller & Joachim Jacobitz

--> The miniWAS demo system is a good opportunity for hands-on experience

--> The older version "ABAP Objects: Introduction to Programming SAP Applications"

by Horst Keller, Sascha Kruger may also be OK

2. SAP Educations offered by SAP or SAP Education Partners

--> There are various classes. There are some supplementary documents and of course hands-on experience

--> With the old code 'BC404', but now '402' as I remember, there has been a course especially on ABAP OO; <i>"Object-oriented Programming in R/3"</i>

I have another question. I am trying to code a program with classes and I use the classbuilder, but I want to do it without the GUI's help. I want to have a window like how you code a report and hard code it all myself. Is there something I am missing?
