Hi,
Our SAP is EHP6 and BASIS is 731 w/ 4.
Pls. let me know how can I get the below settings / features?
1) Say, I declared as below
DATA lv_matnr TYPE matnr.
DATA ls_mara TYPE mara.
So, when I use these (lv_matnr, lv_mara) in my ABAP programming then the ABAP editor pops me (tool tip kind) helps me to populate / suggest them, the moment I typed lv_ .....
Pl. let me know where is the setting I need to do?
2) See below comments in red box, as soon as put this class/method automatically am getting the variable's labels, how can I get for me?
Thank you

Hi,
Hope your using the latest version of the GUI and for the first query you can try this .
1. In abap editor Go to Utilities->Settings->abap editor->editor->select the radio button Front-End Editor(New).
and save. in Editor after writing any variable starting letter click on CTRL + SPACE you will be getting the list of possible options.
go through this link it will give you more info and links.
http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/New+ABAP+Editor
2. For your second query you can do like this
after writing the class name press CTRL+Space and it gives options, to get the entire parameter texts and declarations also to auto complete the code press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER

Hi ,
You can click on the small icon in the right corner os abap editor and select code completion->enable code completion -> open code completion after (give the time frame acc to you) (100-500) and save it for system variables.
for local data declaration, use Utilities->Settings->abap editor->editor->radio button Front-End Editor(New). Ctrl + space to use it.
Regarding the 2nd ques. : is the documentation maintained ?. Pobably that might be the difference.

Thank you, my 1st query solved. But, for 2nd Q. you mean, developer maintained those documentation manually? then am not sure, so my Q is do we have any such feature as an auto from system?

Try below settings.
Utilities->settings->ABAP Editor-> Pattrn
Select the "Name actual parameter same as Name formal param.
Functional writing style for call method.

hi Niyaz,
Name actual parameter same as Name formal param : is for giving the formal parameters name. (easy to declare)
Functional writing style : instead of call method ABC->XYZ it will be me->XYZ.
I do not think the comments issue has anything to do with it. The comments are the description of the parameters declared in the method.
I tried some more settings but could not find the exact settings. Also When i tried to call the same method of the same class as called above, I did not get the comments.
I do not think it's a EHP related issue but not sure.

There is no such setting. You can look for workaround code written by individuals to enhance pretty printer. It may be called ABAP beautifier, enhanced pretty printer, pretty printer redesigned etc.
Basically the workaround code would run (via implicit enhancement) when you do pretty print, and it would do formatting improvements like indentation, alignment, auto commenting.
One such example is featured in .
In case you don't find the exact thing by searching, you can enhance the enhancement implementation code to make it do what you want.
