Hello all,
I have a question regarding Data Dictionary. I know that the Data Dictionary is at the Application Server level. Now my question is, if we have more than one application server, do we have that many Data Dictionaries ? If Yes, then how does the synchronization take place.

if we have more than one application server,
Did you hear more than one Database in SAP ever?
Below are concern few lines from this [document|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cf/21ea31446011d189700000e8322d00/frameset.htm] which are really concern to you.
The ABAP Dictionary permits a central description of all the data used in the system without redundancies. New or modified information is automatically provided for all the system components. This ensures data integrity, data consistency and data security.

I am speechless, I have no speech,,, after the numorous exact responses. Isn't one correct response (possibly 2 max) enough ?
Do people just have to add that "Oh yes I know the same answer too and I will post it to self-validate my knowledge and add to my self-esteem of technical awareness"?
Even though the question has already been answered by someone else (multiple times) ?

I think only Rob got it right. Of course it depends on whether you're using a hardware or software definition of app server.
As a believer in one-man one-vote - and that I should be the man who has the vote. "There is only one ABAP Data Dictionary per Netweaver ABAP stack"

Wow, what a lovely thread, can I get in on this too?
I looked up "data" in a dictionary and it told me if there is only 1 of them it should be called "datum".
God knows whether that is true.

If the ap server has more than one SAP instance, then there will be more than one data dictionary.

The same data dictionary is used in all SAP instance.
There will be no more than one data dictionary.

It depends. The DDIC is not a democracy.
The answers so far are all wrong (on their own) in my opinion. We need a coalition!
