Hi guys .....

I have just started reading CAF documents available on the net. In my project I need to use Enterprise Services available on ES workplace to read the Purchase Orders from my SAP ECC5 back end into my Composite application. What are the steps I should follow ? Should I integrate my ECC5 server in the Netweaver landscape ? Can I usae the enterprise services to access my back end ECC5 system using the Composite application ?

Please Help !

the enterprise services om ES workplace are mostly simplified bapi wrappers for demonstration/showcase purpose. ES Workplace itself is a ECC5 system.

Now you have your own ECC5 and you want to read PO from your composite application. Without enterprise services you can read PO using the corresponding bapi from your process layer (if you have one) using Guided Procedures (callable object for web service or RFC).

Or from the UI Layer of your composite (VC or Webdynpro or ...) use the wsdl of the bapi or the jco connection or whatever communication technology to read PO.

But if you want the enterprise services within your own ECC5, it's a different story. I think they removed the initial bundle from smp and the upcoming one is going to be released as part of SAP rampup process soon (limited number of SAP customers and partners). So unless you're part of the rampup, you shouldn't waste your time down that path. Use the RFC or web service method to read your POs. The value of enterprise services is when bapis don't exists or the existing ones are too complex to use. But in this case the bapi to read PO exists and is fairly simple to use. So you wouldn't get much value from its corresponding enterprise service. Does that make sense?

Hi,

I have personally not worked on enterprise services, but yes on web services. To narrow down your search on sdn, here are some helpful links:

First of all, to get the implementation of the enterprise service locally on your ECC system, have a look at this thread:
