Ideally events also flow back to TM system. So customers can view the events seen in LBN in TM too. However, the FO status is a derived status and it can be custom defined. on LBN only execution status is tracked.

This is a know gap and I guess this issue is being discussed. Based on invoice status you can always have a custom output mgmt implementation to trigger email .
