LORD API and 40 Char Material Number

Does anyone have experience in modifying LORD API to handle 40 Char Material numbers in an DIMP A&D industry implementation. I have a customer that uses 40 Char and wants to use LORD, which only handles 18 Char Mat Numbers as standard.
