I have just started my career as a SAP SD Functional Consultant. I am planning to take SAP SD Professional Examination. I am from India.

I heard that I should have min 1 years of work exp as a sd consultant then only I can appear for examination. Is it true? if so what is the process, fees & exam code?

I have also seen in official sap training page that there are some exam for which consultant should have 4-5 years of work exp. Exam code is P_SD_65

How many SAP Certified Application Professional examination are there for sd module?

Can anyone guide me with details?

I passed P_SD_65 two years ago (this certification is valid and it is the latest version available for SD professional level). I do not wish to discourage you, but the difference in terms of questions between a professional and associate level is really big.

There is a good reason why SAP recommends having several years of experience before attempting it - the range of topics and the type of questions require knowledge in various areas, which you probably did not have a chance to work on without supervision from senior colleagues during your first year. It is not impossible to go directly for professional level - this is what I did, but I already had several years of implementation projects and prior experience in other modules, which integrate with SD. Exactly because the attendance fee for the exam is substantial for your budget, you need to assess your chances really well.

I would strongly recommend that you try answering the sample questions in the pdf link from this exam: SAP Certified Application Professional - Order Fulfillment with SAP and check all topics listed there. If you are struggling with any of these, take your time and prepare. It is not mandatory in some countries to attend official SAP training prior to the exam, but if your company is willing to invest in you by covering partially the training cost - do not miss the chance (at least the trainings in UK, that I attended, were worth the high price tag).

Dear all,

First of all thanks for such an insightful points on SAP. I have done my MBA specialized in marketing & currently working in an FMCG industry having 5 years of strong domain experience in sales & distribution. My current job description deals in handling distributors & channel sales management of different sales verticals like retail, wholesale, modern trade etc. In a nutshell its a hardcore field oriented job that I perform on a day to day basis. After coming across SAP and inculcating some knowledge about its various modules I'm very keen to take up SAP SD module certification, and want to drift my career from regular field sales job to SAP career. To tell you the truth, I have no experience in handling SAP practically, nor I have any hands on experience handling SAP software in the user end. So kindly need an honest suggestion whether taking up SAP SD module as a certification programme based on my domain knowledge would be an ideal shift for me to enhance my career I'm 31 right now. Would this be an ideal shift kindly enlighten.

Thanks & Regards,

Abhirup Dasgupta

Hi Arindam, If you are just starting your career then I think one of our Associate exams would be more suitable. The Professional exams are aimed at candidates with significant experience.

The complete list of valid exams is here: https://training.sap.com/certification/validity

The C_TSCM* or C_TS4* exams might be of interest to you. The requirements can vary depending on where you are based. For example, candidates with SAP India need to take a course or apply (with proven experience) before they can register for an SAP certification exam. Please contact your regional SAP Education office as they can deal with specific cases and provide you with further information/application forms as relevant. For more information for SAP India, see https://www.sapindiacertification.com/help/directcertification/ or https://www.sapindiacertification.com/cloudcertification/

I already working in a org from last couple of months. Since Associate level course and exam involve huge cost, I would prefer to go for professional exam only. What is min work experience require for appear in professional certification? I am based out of India.

I would go look at the SAP certification site, and filter by your country: https://training.sap.com/search?filters%5Bcountry%5D%5BIndia%5D=on&q=SD+india

Some certifications are "retiring"
