Hello everyone,
I have an issue in SAP Payroll (HCM) in production.
The payroll area (PA03) is set to Exit Payroll for period 05/2026. As a result, the payroll results are finalized and the system does not update the previous calculation even after changes in master data.
When I try to run payroll recalculation (W option) or use retroactive payroll, the results do not reflect in the closed period.
My question is:
👉 What is the correct approach to update payroll results in a period that is already in “Exit Payroll” status?
👉 Is it mandatory to reopen the control record, or should adjustments be done in the next payroll period instead?
👉 How is this usually handled in production systems from a best practice perspective?
