I run an authorized SAP Academy, so I think I am able to provide some help.

Firstly,the the most common SAP certification for ABAP is coded C_TAW12_04, which carries a title of "SAP Development Consultant - SAP NetWeaver 2004 Development Focus- in your certificate. (the title, of course, may change)

The above should be what you referred to as "Associate" level.

Now, according to the latest roadmap for ABAP ("Associate") certification described above, you need to take TAW10 and TAW12. These two should prepare you well for the certification. The BC4xx you described are alternatives to TAWxx so you need to make sure you have covered all the BC4xx based on this click http://www.sap.com/services/education/certification/certificationtest.epx?context=%5b%5bC_TAW12_04%5...

From our experience, No 'real life' experience needed to pass the certification for as long as you follow the roadmap above and complete all the exercises. Of course, real life experience would help greatly. One of our students who does not have any prior SAP knowledge scored 83 points (passing grade = 70) based on the above roadmap through our eAcademy program.

Hi,

its really good that u want to go for SAP-ABAP certification. there r only 2 institutes which give training for ABAP certification,one is SAP labs and other one is Simens,but the course fee is it's expensive (about 2.25 lakh for course and 25000 for exam) these institutes provide u course as well as make u appear in certification. i can suggest u a gud book for preparing for this certi - ABAP programming: a guide to certification course by Kanthleen Sikora.
