Homogeneous System Copy with MaxDB

Hi Experts,

I want to perform a homogeneous system copy for SAP ECC EHP8 where source is MaxDB 7.9 on Windows 2012 server, and I performed System copy steps via SWPM 1.0 on source system. It created a folder of approx 15 GB for me.

My target system is Windows 2019, and its a fresh system (nothing installed on it so far). I chose the option "Hoogeneous Copy (MaxDB specific Backup/Restore) in SWPM but unable to determine the values for Template Name and Device/File on SWPM screen. Can you please help in determining these inputs for me?

The use of SWPM on source system is only used on HETEROGENEOUS SYSTEM COPY.

Hi Bhavya

Before starting the SWPM, you have to take the DB backup of the source and restore the same in the target OS, start the homogeneous system copy, refer the SAP note 129352

Hi Sriram,

What do you suggest to use to take DB back-up on source system, should I go with MaxDB Database Studio or DBMGUI?

I am not sure about Max DB, you can refer to the SAP notes 2143316 & 1377148 about the backup /restore.
