First Certification Advise

Hello Beginner Corner,

I have joined SAP with the goal of becoming an SAP Cybersecurity and GRC Consultant.

Over the last few days I have looked through the many resources SAP has made available here through documentation and community resources, of which I am entirely appreciative.

For others with the same interest, I recommend:

After going through the June 2024 Certification Recommendations, I learned that the "SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP Access Control 12.0" cert has been retired with no replacement, but with Records of Achievement, and that a soon to be coming Security Administrator certification is in the works though I have not able to find an expected release.

At this stage, I would like to gain some insight from those in the community with the career experience I lack. I am eager to get started on the certification opportunity I have been granted, but am unable to isolate a particular one based on the resources I have listed.

Would simply proceeding with the path listed in the Digital Skills Initiative Guide post (https://groups.community.sap.com/t5/beginner-corner-blog-posts/how-and-where-do-you-start-a-consulti...) and combining with more relevant Records of Achievement be the best course, or would your experience suggest a more fitting starting point for one already in a technical background with cybersecurity training?

Thank you for your time,

Cephus

Hi @C_Legall-Brickey ,

Thanks for the question - as your discipline spans the full width of business operations, a certification that gives you a view of the big picture might also be helpful. The one you found from my blog is one good option.

Explore Integrated Business Processes in SAP S/4HANA might also be something for you. (This is on-prem focused, a bit old school but still relevant for now).

Finance is also very relevant to compliance topics.

Regards,

David

Hello @David_Chaviano1,

Thank you for your input. Yes, a broad foundation does appear to be a valuable approach.

I also did notice that SAP's Cybersecurity products were listed under Financial Management. While I could, of course, reason how it would have purpose in the protection of things the protection of payment methods information, I had not looked deeper into that side. I will consider it more seriously going forward.

This was useful, and gives me the confidence to make my final decisions.

Thank you,

Cephus
