The Mini SAP Basis System is the technical basis of all SAP server components and is designed to run on computers with minimal disk and memory resources. It gives you the opportunity to get to know the SAP Basis System, to try out Basis administration functions, CCMS, the Workflow, or to learn the ABAP programming language. For an overview of the Basis technology that is available, see the Extended Help function within the HELP menu.
The Mini SAP Basis System offers you the following benefits:
The latest MS SQL Server 2000 database technology
Fast and easy installation
Free license for 4 weeks with an option to extend the license within www.mySAP.com at no additional cost
As of January 2001 there will be a homepage dedicated to the Mini SAP Basis System within www.mySAP.com/Technology.
System Requirements
Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0, Service Pack 4 or higher
Internet Explorer 4.01 or higher
>= 128 MB RAM
>= 256 MB paging file
>= 2.2 GB disk space
(60 MB DB software, 1.9 GB SAP data, 100 MB SAP Gui + temporary free space for the installation)
The file C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\services must not include an entry for port 3600.
Network Configuration
Basically I was using it when doing first steps with SAP, when not working as a consultant yet. It gave me basic understanding and overview what is it all about;)
Regards,
Marcin

Hi Cinthia,
minisap is a Trial Version of SAP Netweaver which you can download for free at SDN. It includes only basic components of a SAP installation and is therefore just for learning purposes (e.g. ABAP Programming). The licence is only valid for a limited time, but you can renew it as often as you want it. The system requirement depends on the type of minisap, because there are a couple of different ones (Netweaver 2004, Netweaver 2004s, with ABAP, with Java....). For more Information check this: .
In general your system should have at least 1 GB RAM and 1,1 GHz. Your filesystem should be NTFS.
Hope this helps!

Hi Nazneen,
MINISAP is a full-fledged Basis SAP system without the SAP applications (FI, CO, MM, SD, etc.). It has every Basis function of a standard SAP-R/3 system (ABAP/4 Development Workbench, Data Transfer Workbench, Computer Center Management System - CCMS, etc.) and, therefore, is a very good means to get exposed and trained in ABAP/4 programming language.
It is also a very good personal productivity tool (i.e., it can be used to develop programs for customers without having to be on-site).
The minisap are for those who are new and want to get Basis exposure or want to learn ABAP programming at their home PC.
