Hotpacks are corrections/enhancements to standard SAP code released from time to time before the next Version.
Actually, SAP no longer uses the term Hotpacks/Patches.. they are all grouped under Support Packages.. Each Package will in turn contain changes/corrections to individual components.. for ex the WHERE clause in a SELECT statement in a Standard report would have been expanded;
or a few fields would have been added to a database Table etc..

Hi,
A hotpack is used to describe a patch or service pack. I think it was the terminology used around R/3 release 4.5

Hi,
Hot Pack is nothing but Bug Fixing
Besides the current release level, it is very important to keep track of what level of "hot pack" (bug fix) has been installed. During testing, it's easy to forget that on most projects, the client fails to keep up with applying the hot packs, resulting in unnecessary problems. In every project Ive been on, we encountered an apparently unexplainable situation that was finally solved by applying an existing fix.

Hi ,
Thanks a lot to you all for your replies.
Vasu, if possible, could you please elaborate a little more further, and an example would be GR8.
Once again thanks a lot
