ECC 5.0

Hi all,

Can any one help me in being paid to know the ECC 5.0 environment!

Actually we are at the build phase of implementation & my experience as an ABAPer is in 4.6C.

<b>What do you think are the most common problems we may encounter down the road of implementation in ECC5.0?</b>

Any initiative would be helpful to run a head of correct time.

Not sure what you are asking here ECC 5.0 and 6.0 are merely upgraded versions of R/3 with a name change. The basis layer renamed to netweaver and a lot of enhancements since 46c. You should start with downloading and installing the sneak preview edition of netweaver here on SDN. You can then check out all the new functionality in regard to ABAP.

Let me make myself clear.

Actually looking for some feed backs, where in people have encountered any issues at the implementation phase in ECC5.0, their experience in the implementation in this environment ( who have moved from SAP 4.6c environment).

Actually I am in the middle of upgrading from 46c to ECC 6.0. THere are a few things that need to be done in regard to ABAP. You need to bring your code up to unicode compliant, You can use transaction UCCHECK in the new system to check your custom programs for unicode compliancy. You will need to remove all calls to WS_UPLOAD and WS_DOWNLOAD and replace them with GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD. All OPEN DATASET statement will need to have the extension ENCODING DEFAULT added to them, as well as some other minor changes.

You are upgrading the system to ECC 5.0 OR it's fresh implementation.

Anyway's you can use <b>Service.sap.com</b> for more detailed documentation and we also have SAP Solutions as a separate forum.
