Hi experts,

I'm a senior programmer at c/c++/c#/java, and I need use abap for the new project.

I use se38 to write a little demo, and find this is too ineffective. I feel I'm back to turbo c for DOS.

Can you recommend one more excellent IDE software for abap programming?

Try SE80 , but thats also the same.

and i strongly do not agree with you on the comment that "I feel I'm back to turbo c for DOS".

Hi Mikenl,

If you are on ECC 6 or higher version you will get better ABAP Editor Functions...

Try to get it first...

Then once you go to SE38

Then Follow Menu.. Utilities --> Settings --> ABAP Editor Tab --> Editor Tab

Then Select Radio Button Front-End Editor (New)

Hope it will solve your problem..

if you are using the old editor in se38, shift to the new editor through:

se38->utilities->settings->ABAP editor

Select Front-End Editor (New)

Hi,

You dont have IDEs for ABAP programming like how you have Eclipse and stuffs for Java.

You gotto code it in the SAP Logon Box.

Try the Front End Editor as Ilesh has suggested. It has a good UI.

I quite agree with you, the workbensch is lousy as an IDE for OO-programming. You might want to have a look at [CEON's ABAP plugin for Eclipse|http://www.ceon.nl/abapeclipse]. However, no one seems to have actually tried this. There doesn't seem to be a trial version, and when I attempted to negotiate with them, they didn't answer emails. The website doesn't mention licensing details or pricing. I'd be interested to know when you make any headway.
