Any inputs, we are planning for an upgrade in that case now i have to create some documentation for the same, i need some inputs regarding the tools used for upgrade project .

HI,

there is no specific tool for the upgradation. it dependts on organization. if it has developed its own tool means that is used for the upgradization. noramlly company gets the project based on the presentation of their tool.

our company has a great tool for the upgradization. which find out all unicode related errors and changes that has to be done in new verion.

like this each organization might havedeveloped their tools.

When I search for upgrade process, I am getting the first step as running a program called PREPARE where can I get this, or am I getting it wrong. Any inputs ?

there is no spaecial tool for upgrade, some organization may be having some tool for preplanning the upgrade this activity is done first with the coordination of bassis as well as Abapers and after upgradation functional testing. sap is having some standard tcodes like samt for syntax check, uccheck for unicode spau for standard programs and spdd for standard data dictionary objects

Hi,

First of all you have to understand whats the purpose tool. Some tools are used for extract all of the objects in a project, some tools are used for calculate the impact analysis and some tools are used for total effort estimation. These are the tools used for an upgrade project.

Secondly, For Technical upgrade and Functional upgrade there are no tools. The process of Technical upgrade and functional upgrade is organisation specific.
