Hi how to set text for column header
There is an existing table and i am not allowed to edit the data elements and table fields but i can add new fields
i tried to add new fields and then regenerate using se51 table maintenance after regenerating. the column header is missing and become + but some column header has text because it has table elements

1. my question is it possible to set a text of column header without using screen painter and not creating a data element for that field. because in my screen painter i can't edit the text and the view is something like this(img below).

2. why the column header of some field become + after regenerating?

Concerning the question 1, I think it's best practice to make elements reusable and so it's best to create the data elements.

Concerning the question 2, it becomes + because probably the screen was changed manually, and you have chosen to regenerate the screen, so the manual work was overwritten.

but if the screen column header was manually added the text by the previous user. is there a way to regenerate the table maintenance without overwriting the existing table screen column header and just adding the new field?

I only change this. I am not yet familiar in table maintenance and just saw this in a blog for adding new fields but in the blog i read it didn't said that it will overwrite the header of column

I checked all of this

Unfortunately, the TMG is very limited. Adding a field means regenerating the dynpro.

I recommend to use the TMG without creating custom code, avoid creating custom events and so on (if possible).

I never managed to think of a good solution when there's custom development needed. There was a blog post about custom tool "CUTE", but I don't know if it's usable and stable.

It's just customizing, so as rule-of-thumb we should not spend money on it.
