hi,
SAP R/3 landscape generally can be viewed as the path of transports.
It depends on the company how many systems they want to keep from Development/sandbox to Production server.
For example in my the landscape is
Sandbox -> Development -> QA -> prod
Thanks,
Anver

Hi,
System landscape is a collection of domain groups.
Domain groups means no of instances sharing the same transport directory.
One group is connected to another via a transport route. Suppose there are three instances D01, Q01 and P01. Developement r done in D01, transported to Q01 and tested there, if ok then finally transported to P01. It may so happen that D01 and Q01 share a common transport directory and P01 a different.So there r two groups ie D01 and Q01 in one group and P01 in a separate group. System Landscape is basically a designing of the instances.
