How to give the functional consultance specifications to the Abapers?

Vijay,
A Functional spec. is a template which explains the business process of the client and it would explain in detail of the current business needs. It can also include the methodology, how the requirement is to transformed as reality in SAP.
A Technical Spec. is a template which are provided to the developers, which will in detail explain about the kind of resources to be used. For eg. If the requirement is uploading of customer master data, then the technical spec. would comprise of BDC Methodology, standard program name, screens to be used and also pseudo code.
Hope this would help you, reward if so.

Hi
good
functional consultant is prepared by the functional people and they send it to the abapers though comany mail id or the cient mail id for whom they are working, this is the case if the spake is coming from the onsite, otherwise in offshore abapers will directly get the functional spake from the functional people and they ll describe about the functionality of the functional spake to the abapers.
thanks

Hi,
Abappers/developer are not provided directly with Functional Specs but with Technical Specs.
Now the question arises, what is the difference between the two :
Functional Specs : This document is prepared by the Functional consultant. He understands the processes of the Company/Client and also jots down the requirement. He gathers the requirement, the output(report/print/mail etc) and then creates a Functional Document. This document gives an overall idea at a higher level about the requirement i.e. the desired input/processing/output.
Technical Speces : The Technical consultant understands the Functional specs, gets clarification from Functional consultant and then prepares a detailed Technical spec. He decides whether it should be a report/module pool/smartform/script etc. Accordinly he prepares a document giving detailed technical idea to the developer.
This document is given to the abapper/developer.
For Smartforms :
1.
Specify the layout/ The heading/ The page format/paper size/ font size/ Type of font/ Whether you want to display the date/time, number of pages.
2. Specify the criteria for displaying the data in smartform
3. Specify when the smartform would be called.
4. Whether there is any authorization for executing the print program of smartform
5. Whether any specific printer needs to be selected or should the print out be fired to default/LOCAL printer.
6. Specify if the smartform should handle any conversion in data e.g. the Print program passes date in yyyymmdd format to smartform and smartform should display it in YY/MM/DD format
Best regards,
Prashant
