SM01 Lock /Unlock Tcode - Is this a Basis or Security Tcode?

Experts - We are building a custom GRC ruleset to report and prevent admin access in SAP systems. One of the question i encountered is to classify SM01 (Lock / Unlock Tcode) to Basis function or Security function.

Any expert opinion will be highly appreciated.

Thank you,

Sandeep

Hi Sandeep - does which role the transaction sits in make a different to your ruleset definition

Security is technically a subset of Basis/System Administration so Yogesh is right they are the same.

Whoever perfroms the task will really come down to the roles and responsibilities in your organisation so they question needs to be "Who is our business is responsible for this"

Also, if using SAP GRC then perhaps shift the access to a Firefighter Id.

Hello Sandeep Paraprath,

SM01 Lock /Unlock Tcode - Is this a Basis or Security Tcode? - Yes This is shared TCode between 2 teams

If you have new version of SAP NW system please check SAP note 2234192 since transaction SM01 is obsolete

Thank you

Yogesh
