Select DISTINCT

This is the select statement I am using -

SELECT DISTINCT FIELD1 AS FIELD1 FROM TABLE UP TO 1 ROWS

INTO TABLE I_TAB.

This is selecting the line but getting a initial line.

Its not retrieving any data.

Please tell me what has to be modified here?

You want the first field in the table in the first record?

May be the first record has a blank value in it.

SELECT DISTINCT vbeln FROM  vbap up to 1 rows
INTO TABLE I_TAB.

break-point.

Its still retrieving the bank lines.
