Hi,

I have one doubt about creating segments.

while creating segments what is the use of options like 'mandatory' or 'optional'.

why do we ned those.?

It tells if the segment is mandatory (Should occurs atleast once ) to create the application document it is associated to, or (for outbound Idocs) the data in that segment is needed compulsorily for the external system.

HI ,

The use of mandatory and optional checkboxes is that ---

If you want that particular segment to be treated as mandotory field you have to check it as mandatory segment.. just like any mandotory field like customer number vendor account number etc.

if u specify a segment as a mandatory that segment fields must contain values else it will show error while creating IDOC.

Optional means the segement field may or may not contain data.
