Hi,
I am trying to have Search help for field VBAK-VBELN in selection screen, which shall provide as tables parameter to Function module WFMC_MESSAGES_SELECT RI_OBJECT. Now I have done it using range and provided the selection screen input to range and range to the FM. But I want to ask If I could directly attach search help to the selection screen. Problem is VBAK-VBELN does not have search help, instead has value table. Can it be somehow attached to the range ?
Thanks & Regards.

i will tell you what to do
when you follow this below link...
[CLICK|http://lmgtfy.com/?q=saphelpparameterswithmatch+code&l=1]
it will do this
[desired help|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/41/f6b237fec48c67e10000009b38f8cf/content.htm]
[desired help 2|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABAPPARAMETERS_VALUE.htm#&ABAP_ADDITION_3@3@]
dont worry, they just tell you to use this option(similar to your req):
PARAMETERS p_carrid TYPE s_carr_id
MATCHCODE OBJECT demo_f4_de.

Thanks Soumya for making your answer interesting.
But let me tell you what the query is. After going through my post above once again, pls come back here. If after se11, looking in Entry help/check tab and in column search help, you find nothing and there is a value in check table, then would you again ask me to do the procedure as mentioned earlier.
Thanks for your concern, No Offence.
Regards.

Dear Chitwanjit,
What Soumya said is correct. You need to check how the code below behaves when you press F4 on the selection screen fields p_vbeln or s_vbeln. It shows the values returned by search help demo_f4_de rather than the value table attached to vbak-vbeln.
If you remove the MATCHCODE OBJECT addition, the f4 will revert back to the check table that is attached to VBAK-VBELN field
Check it out
TABLES: vbak.
PARAMETERS: P_VBELN TYPE VBAK-VBELN MATCHCODE OBJECT demo_f4_de.
SELECT-OPTIONS: S_VBELN FOR VBAK-VBELN MATCHCODE OBJECT demo_F4_de.

Non taken, only worry is you did not understand what i meant.
what if you just do this.. dont declare the select option of type vbeln. define something like char10 and attach a match code object. is that a problem?? would you still say that i dint read your post!!
parameter: p1 type char10 matchcode object ZMATCHCODE.you still have a problem after using this!! and yes, i still ask you to follow the link if you can.
anyways.. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Happy New Year Soumya.
There is no search help for the table column VBAK-VBELN. so no matchcode object to put as 'ZMATCHOBJECT'. Probably I could not get my query through. I want to replicate the way this column is doing. As a last resort, I shall have to create Z Match Code.
Thanks & Regards.

more over,
you can just go for a
at selection-screen on value request for P_vbeln. .. this way you can define F4 helps without creating a z search help.
and yes, we might not be getting what you exactly trying to achieve. so, it would be great if you can explain more
