SE80 problems

Hello all,

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I figured it's the most likelt place to find someone who's experienced the same problem.

When I run transaction SE80 (ABAP development workbench), within the "Repository browser" there should be a text box to enter the name of the program, class, function etc that I want to view/modify. There should also be 2 buttons, one with a downward pointing arrow and the other a pair of glasses.

Unfortunately, all I get now is an inactive textarea -type box.

It appears like that only for me (although I'm not sure if it's because it's my username or my machine).

Can anyone shed any light?

Hi Stuart,

Even I have faced this problem

Its a GUI problem. Please upgrage ur SAP Patch Level.

Just right click on ur SAP logon pad and inside "About SAP Logon" chek the patch level.

Anjali

I've just had a look on another machine and when I log in SE80 looks fine.

I've also compared the SAP logon versions and the patch version and they are the same.

Either way, it seems to be a problem with just this machine.

It does seem like a GUI problem to me. Have you tried re-installing the SAP GUI? It might help.

Mine is 44.

Patch level upgradation could be the only reason I see.

I have SAP GUI with the following...

Release: 620 Final Release

File Version: 6206.6.43.964

Build: 631011

Patch Level: 43

This is the same version that is installed on all the other machines here, and they work fine. Funny thing is, this machine worked fine until a few days ago.

The only difference I can possibly think of is that my machine runs Windows XP.

Well,

My system is also Windows XP and its working fine. That couldnt be a reason.

And here also, systems with lesser patch levels are working.

Reinstalling the SAP GUI or whole SAP package could solve.

Patch level too low!!.

If the same problem persists after upgrading the patch level to 44 and above, then I'm sorry, dont know the solution. May be BASIS team can give a better sol.

Lets see what the Forum says.

I have now upgraded to 640 patch level 17 (the latest, I believe)

Still no difference.

I've also cleared out the SapWorkDir too, just incase something was being cached. It made no difference.

I think I have fixed the problem.

..Or at least discovered what's happening.

According to a post in the SAP GUI forum, that part of the SE80 screen is rendered using some kind of HTLM plugin.

I've recently installed Internet Explorer 7 beta. My guess is that it's that that's doing it.

I have just run across the same problem with IE 7 and verified that it works correctly in IE 6.

Here is a variant on this. We are operating a heterogeneous R/3 Installation.

The SE80 object list in the Select Box performs normally when viewed on a Unix Host, yet displays the message, 'This program cannot display the webpage' when viewed on a Windows 2000 server host.

I have verified that the kernel patch levels are identical in each environment.

I was having the same problem. After coming across this thread, I checked the GUI patch level. I was experiencing the problem with

640 Final Release

Patch Level: 18

I checked SE80 from another machine which had 640 Final - Patch 20 and it worked on that machine. Then, I applied Patch 20 and it worked. I am using IE 7.0 so I don't think it is related to IE version.

I hope this helps.
