SE16 and Variant Not Current Version message

I am getting an error message when I try and execute SE16 using a variant. The message is DB634 and it says "Variant x of program y is not the current version". I have Functional asking me what is wrong and I can't tell them because I can't figure out how to debug it to see what it doesn't like or what it is even looking at. The message appears as soon as you click Variant x in your Drop List of Variants for the table. Any help is appreciated.

I think one of the possible reasons could be that some one is modifying the variant and has not saved it yet.

I think the problem is that the current selection screen of the table in SE16 has fewer or different fields for selection that the variant has. Go to Settings/Fields for selection and check all the fields that the variant needs. This should be the solution.

The answer was the fact that the selection screen had changed since the variant was created. Thanks for the help.
