Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if i activate table logging on a table, how would I check to see how much space is taken by any particular table i.e. is there a report, which compiles a list of table names logged and how much space each has taken? I'm just new to this table logging functionality so i was just enquiring.

dear friend

if you want to know about the total no of size

entries in a perticular table.

go to se11->> then enter the name of the

table ->>>>>>got to technical setting-->>>>

and u see easily that

size categories: like 1 or 2 or 3 or any thing

and then beside this u will find the exact

table intries in that perticular table.

that is written like this:

Data records expected: 12,000 to 48,000

thats all.

Hi mani,

1. Table logging will mainly tell the inserts/modify/deletes

which happened on the records of that table.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, i understand that part and this is response to the previous post i put but no one responded. Someone has given me a requirement to activate this but the informaiton is very vivid and from what information i have been given about the size of each record and volume is that i would be happy to turn this on, on the basis the report that uses the tables is run monthly, as per requirement but i wanted to ask what approach one would take to to test the volume generated on logging or give a pre analysis of whether its ideal to turn it on. most tables will be transactional and some are master data tables. SAP have said in the OSS note that is is not recommended but on the basis it runs monthly i would be happy for it to be turned on but i would like to test it before it goes to production system.

Hi again,

1. I am not sure how table logging is stored.

could be in some another table where all logging information is stored, or it could be in some file on operating system.

2. However, if the need is there, there should not be a

problem in activating the log. After some time,

it can be again deactivated. It won't slow the system in any noticeable fashion.
