Hi,

First thing to check is your user-specific settings for the Screen Painter. Is the "Graphical layout editor" checkbox turned on? From within the ABAP workbench or screen painter choose the menu path Utilities -> Settings. Choose the "Screen Painter" tab and make sure the checkbox for "Graphical layout editor" is checked on.

If this option was not checked before, then this should allow you to use the graphical screen painter instead of the text-based screen painter. If this option is checked and you still don't get the graphical screen painter tool, then you probably have an issue with your SAPGUI installation. You'll need to check with your system folks to resolve the problem if that is the case.

Jamie

Hi James,

Thanks for you useful info.

But I have tried with three different logons and it says the same error ' graphical editor not supported ..alphanumeric editor is opened '...How can I solve this.

I have tried in checking the settings and the graphical layout is checked on.

Can you suggest me some other alternatives ?.

Hi,

I suppose the issue is the SAP Logon. Please reinstall the SAP Logon. While installing make sure you check all the check box. Graphical editor option comes in one of the checkbox for installation.

sorry i dont remeber the exact path..

Niyaz

Hi,

The screen painter performs various checks on the system environment when it attempts to start the graphical layout editor. Without knowing all the specifics in your case it is difficult to know exactly which of these checks is failing.

I can only suggest that you take a look at [Note 204910|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/204910], particularly the sections regarding "Is the SAPGUI installation correct?" and the related Notes listed at the bottom. The solution section of the Note also contains a paragraph "Important: Trace file dev_euspNNN!" that tells you how to proceed if none of the solutions in the Note work for you.

Good luck!

Cheers,

Jamie
