hello all,

My question is ,scratch project means the company doesnt have SAP system and they are newly implementing SAP? But incase of upgradation, say for example from SAP R/3 4.6C TO SAP ECC5,what exactly the work will be?will the project start from scratch?

I can say Scratch is nothing but implementation project ..

If company is developing new system then it becomes implemetation project

if company developed sap system already ,then they are going to develop for other country ,then it becomes implementation ( here we also called as Roll out)

Upgradtion project - you have to work on syntax check, sometime what ever command in old version,it will not compatible with new system, then we need to change the program.

Screens are not compatible, each and every program ,we have to check with proper testing data.

Upgradtion project will go long term ,since they will upgrade one by one..

Thanks

Hi John,

so wahtever work before go live will be under scratch and after will be production support??

Yes

eg: in productin am cing an user wth missing authorization so inorder to authorize him i should goto DEV n edit the role?? this type of work will com under production support

These type of work will come under production support,if anything happen negatively after go live, then if you give support then it becomes Production support.

And if i say tat i created roles for project members and end users ,transported the roles...then it comes during implementation??

If you create role ,profile ,auth object before go live ,then it becomes Implementation, this means you are doing like fresh developments.

Hope you got it.

Thanks
