This has to be coded in the PAI event and there is other way. Variant creation and Selection function modules can be used for this purpose.

No, there isn't. But did you consider the possibility of a selection-screen within a dialog program? Check the demo transaction code DEMO_SELSCREEN_DYNP!

Please have a look at FunctionPool => SAPLSVAR

(Function group :: SVAR > Variant maintenance).

In Include LSVARUXX there are some FM listed that are used for VARIANT maintenance.

Few important tables for Variants:

VARI - ABAP/4: Variant storage (similar to INDX)

VARID - Variant directory

VARINUM - Internal number assignment for variants

VARIT - Variant texts

TVARV - Table of variables in selection criteria

TVARC - Variant conditions

TVARUVN - Individual Variant Variable: Assignment TVARV

TVARCT - Text for Variants Conditions

TVARH - Header entries for screen variants

TVARIND - Save screen variants
