Its depend on your requirments.

Hi sanju,
1. The format of the layout/report
as per the business requirement,
has to be PRE-DEFINED.
2. Only then the saspscript development should start,
other wise,
afterwards,
all the margins/tab settings/formatting
will undergo change.
3. Hence, first freeze what is required
portrait or landsacpe
4. accordingly change that in BASIC SETTINGS,
and proceed for development.

Hi,
When you create a new script from SE71 transaction, in the Basic settings tab, you have the provision for the 'Page format' to be used and the orientation ( Landscape, Portrait) radio button, there you have the option to choose,
You can check in the standard layouts for ex. MEDRUCK from SE71, basic settings and understand the same,
Hope this helps,

Hi,
Set it initially to Portrait and execute the program.
If the output is wide enough and not displayed completely on the screen, then change the settings to Landscape.
Goto SE71 => Basic Settings => Portrait/Landscape.
And then activate.

Hi,
In SE71, Basic settings there is one provision to select the Page format(may be standard format or Your own y or z formats) . In this page format only you will give the Page type whether poririt or Landscape.
Based on your requirment, select the Page format.
Thanks,
