Hi

I think only SAP can give the certification (it's so in my country); you have to take an exam to obtein it.

This test is formed by many questions: several answers are given for every question and you have to indicate the right answer/s.

You can take only test or you can take a course to prepare the test (depends on you).

See the official site:

http://www.sap.com/services/education/index.epx

http://www.sap.com/services/education/certification/index.epx

You should find the calendar for your country or closer country.

Pavan,

It is a good idea to consider the SAP (ABAP) certification especially for a fresher like you . Basically that gives an extra comfort feeling to the companies that would recruit freshers for SAP development projects.

Pls refer this following link for course details & some sample questions.

Pavan,

Being Certified in a Software Language is always advantageous. Certification in SAP is always a good idea.

Now in India, both SAP and Seimens conduct certification exam. If you are looking for SAP ABAP certification, then do go for the latest version. Since you are experienced in Java, it would be advatageous for you to get Certified in SAP Netweaver instead of ABAP.

If you are good in Java, then I do not think you will have a problem in learning Netweaver. If you need any help you can look for documents in SAP SDN or http://help.sap.com

SAP or Seimens will not fund you money for the certification. All you can do is.... to take the help of the company you are working for. If your company is ready to fund, then go ahead and write the certification exam, else you have to spend from your pocket.

Regards,

Vara
