In a processing time how to calculate the total from internal table.i'll give the input five.Currently i got the output.But i need to get the total size of the record or file..

if your internal table is of total length 1000 chars, then it means it occupies 1000 bytes per one record.
describe table itab lines v_lines.
v_lines would tell you the number of records.
v_lines * 1000 is the totalsize in bytes.

Welcome to SDN.
Please use FM <b>DX_RECORDS_COUNT</b> to get total records of a file.
For total records in internal table, you can use DESCRIBE statement.
data: wa_record type i.
describe table itab lines wa_record.
write: / 'Total records of itab: ', wa_record.Hope this will help.

data: v_size type i.
describe table itab lines v_size.
write:/ v_size. "will give you the total no of lines in
"internal table
