Hi,
Normal report output in Foreground -- No limit for rows & columns. Ensure that in your report program you specify LINE-SIZE & LINE-COUNT accordingly.
Normal report output in Background - 255 characters max. bcz of spool width limitations. There are few notes available on spool width limitations.
ALV output in Foreground - 255 column max in ALV (Not very sure about this)
ALV output in Background - again 255 characters max. bcz of spool width limitations.

Hi Saurabh,
Very interesting question.
I don't think that there is any limit for Rows and Columns in an report display.
The number can vary because length of the fileds vary from each other. So we can't say the exact number as such.
But yes the report should be simple/concise and detailed. Also we use interactive reporting as well to capture more details.
In ALV / Classic reporting supports max of 20000 (tentative) rows display. Also in ALV the grid/container size may be a constraints in number of columns. But as such I never tested its limit.
Hope this helps your understanding.
