I need to know how the item category feild in BOM is related to MM ?

Hi,

I don't see some strong link between item category field and MM. This categorization allows you to process data that is relevant to the individual items in a BOM. The item category is used to control field selection, default values for BOM maintenance, triggering of specific system activities,

and so on.

I can give you example:

If you chose category L than CS02 is waiting for material number (so this is perhaps relation to MM)

If you chose T than you cannot specify comonnet from material master index, and if you chose D than you need to specify the document ...

In short - if there is L category you can say that than you have a relation to MM
