Regenerate Infostructure

Hi,

We have a requirement to change the existing Material Groups (MATKL) in tables to New ones. Relation being Many to One mapping.

But we find issues in Infostructure table S012 where the Material group is a primary key. i.e we will get duplicate records as its many to one mapping.

So is there any way to Regenarte the data in an Infostructure (s they are mostly summation data) so that SAP will automatically take care (from material master/other document tables) instead of us changing the Material groups directly in the tables.

I find a transaction " MSC/ " to Generate Infostructre and am not sure if it can be used for this purpose of re-filling the data.

Yes, you can completely wipe out the info structure data and then re-generate it. It might take very long time though and might have to be scheduled over the weekend. Make sure to inform your Basis admin and, naturally, do it in test system first.

To delete the data in infostructure, use transaction OLIX.

Then use the following transactions to re-populate the structure:

OLI7 - for sales order data

OLI8 - for delivery data

OLI9 - for invoice data

If you have a lot of records in the table (hundreds of thousands or even more), you might need to do it in "batches" by Sales Org or period.

Now, after writing all this I've realized that most likely your old documents will still have the old material group. So, unless you change all the old documents, you won't be able to use the transactions above. I'm affraid you'll have to write your own program to rebuild the table. Sorry!
